Ariño Duglass is supplying the glass for the façade of the new luxury Grand Hyatt Bogotá hotel in Colombia, designed by the renowned American architecture studio Goettsch Partners. This hotel comprises 14 floors and 373 rooms, among other installations. Manufacturing the glass for this curtain wall has been a great challenge given the difference in pressure arising from the altitude in Bogotá (2600 metres a.s.l.) compared to that in Ariño Duglass headquarters in Zaragoza (200 metres a.s.l.) where the glass is produced. A system has been developed using cannulas inserted into the glass to increase resistance and prevent potential breaks, which mainly arise from atmospheric pressure.
