Heat-strengthened glass is obtained in the same way as Duglass tempered glass. The glass is heated to a temperature close to its softening point but on this occasion cooling is a lot slower. This way the permanent tensions created are less and a glass with a higher mechanical and thermal resistance are obtained than annealed glass with a breakage pattern similar to glass that hasn’t undergone thermal treatment.
Duglass heat-strengthened glass isn’t regarded as a safety glass because on breakage this type of glass breaks into big fragments.
