Full Title | Paints Luminescent Glass |
Product name | ShineDuglass |
Participants | Ariño Duglass |
The RD&I department at Ariño Duglass has developed a new range of products that combine our chemical knowledge luminescent materials with our expertise in glass, resulting in the creation of the ShineDuglass line.
ShineDuglass encompasses all types of glass that are printed with luminescent paint. This luminescent paint has been designed here at Ariño Duglass and is resistant to the tempering process that glass undergoes. The paint is compatible with all types of glazing, so it can be used with monolithic glass, laminated glass and even double glazing.
Ariño Duglass has created a vitrifiable paint that unites luminescence and glass, emitting light at night and in dark conditions.
Composition and Luminescent Properties
ShineDuglass glass features luminescent pigments that are based on strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium (SrAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+). These pigments result in a luminescence with excellent efficiency and persistence, as well as high stability. The phosphorescence of these pigments is up to 10 times greater than that of traditional pigments based on ZnS:Cu, generating a product that has exceptional luminescent properties.
Versatility and Adaptability
Ariño Duglass has the capability to develop a luminescent paint for each individual project, producing a paint that is perfectly adapted to the levels of luminescence or clarity required for the image that is to be printed on the glass. Two types of pigments can be used:
Paints free from heavy metals
Both the pigment and the application technique are completely free from lead, cadmium and lithium.
Success story – Emergency signs
Ariño Duglass has always paid special attention to user safety. The emergency windows used on public transport bear a sign indicating which windows are suitable for exiting the vehicle in an emergency. Ariño Duglass has designed a luminescent paint so that “emergency exit” can be printed directly onto these windows. ShineDuglass glass for emergencies retains its luminescence for over 7 hours, enabling the emergency exit windows to be located for as long as possible in case of an accident.
