Project Duration | 36 months |
Start dates | 1st September 2022 |
Programme | Projects in public-private collaboration 2021 |
Scope | National |
Participant entities | 3 national entities |
The SMARTLUX project aims to develop new smart windows for the railway sector capable of self-adapting to environmental conditions (of light and temperature) inside and outside the coach. This technology is based on the use of new plasmochromic materials, capable of regulating selectively and independently the transmission of visible and infrared radiation. Furthermore, the application of this technology is expected to achieve a reduction of up to 35% in energy consumption compared to solutions currently available on the market.
To this aim, the project will be carried out in the following phases:
1. Development of new materials capable of acting in three solar control regimes (warm, cold and dark).
2. Integration of this new technology into double glazed windows for the railway sector.
3. Implementation of AI-driven control system for the regulation of smart windows depending on the environmental conditions of the coach.
